The Off-Season Storage Checklist: How to Keep Your Heated Glove Batteries Alive Until Next Winter

As the snow melts and spring flowers begin to bloom, it’s time to pack away your winter gear. However, simply tossing your heated gloves into a drawer until next December could be a costly mistake.

At Arcfomor, our 7.4V Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) batteries are engineered for high-density performance, but like all advanced electronics, they require proper "hibernation" to ensure they are ready to power you through the next freeze.

1. The 50%-70% Golden Rule

The biggest threat to a Li-Po battery is its state of charge during storage.

  • Don't store at 0%: A fully depleted battery can fall into a "deep discharge" state during the summer, rendering it unable to take a charge next winter.

  • Don't store at 100%: Storing a fully charged battery creates internal stress, leading to capacity loss over time.

  • The Pro Tip: Charge your batteries to approximately 50% to 70% (about 2 out of 3 lights on most indicators) before unplugging them for the season.

2. Temperature & Environment

While Arcfomor batteries are built for the cold, they prefer a stable, room-temperature environment for storage.

  • The Sweet Spot: Store in a cool, dry place between 15°C and 25°C.

  • Avoid Extreme Heat: Never leave your batteries in a hot car or a humid attic during the summer, as excessive heat can cause the cells to degrade or swell.

3. Understanding Thermal Limits: -15°C vs. -20°C

It is important to manage expectations for the coming season. Our batteries are optimized for standard winter conditions.

  • Stable Performance: You will experience full, reliable heating power down to -15°C (5°F).

  • The Extreme Cold Factor: Once temperatures drop below -20°C (-4°F), all lithium-based batteries experience chemical slowing. In these extreme conditions, expect a natural reduction in battery efficiency and a shorter runtime.

4. Disconnect and Relax

Never store your batteries while they are still connected to the gloves. Even when turned off, the internal circuitry can have a "parasitic draw" that slowly drains the battery over months of storage. Always unplug them and store the batteries in their dedicated protective pouch.
